THE LOST PAWNS

The Lost Pawns are an exciting four-piece Calgary band playing all original rock music. Heavily inspired by 90's grunge, they have an authentic Canadian Rock sound.

Coming together in 2021, the band is the culmination of twenty years of songwriting and performing by Justin Matthews,  the creative force behind the Pawns. Writing songs on an acoustic guitar and then electrifying them with the band.

In 2023, Evan Dahl (bass) and Josh Evans (drums)  joined the band, with Carn (guitar) coming aboard not long after. They bring incredible talent and harmonizing backing vocals to the team and the band has never sounded better.

A live band first and foremost they have been playing shows, music festival and private events in Calgary and Southern Alberta consistently, building momentum and gaining fans along the way.

The Pawn's released their Debut EP " Artifacts" in 2022 and followed it up with the single "Sunny Day" in 2023, with all  songs available on all major streaming platforms. They are very excited to be spending time in the studio working on their next release. Stay tuned it is coming soon!

Big shout out to the friends and fans that have supported The Lost Pawns along this incredible journey. You are all Pawnstars and we love you!  See you at the next show!

Justin Matthews

Singer, Songwriter, Guitar

Often found with an acoustic guitar in hand and a new song in the works, Justin has been writing original music for over two decades. His passion for playing live and writing great rhythm and hook-based rock songs about everyday life has taken him to stages across Canada. He looks forward to playing the next one for you!

    Josh Evans

    Drums

Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Josh's passion for music came at an early age when his dad taught him how to hold a pair of drumsticks at the same time he learned to walk. His main influence come from the world of rock n roll, spanning all different types of sub-genres including but not limited to  classic rock, 80's hair metal, 90's grunge, nu-metal, and modern day sounds. His biggest inspiration in life is the one and only Taylor Hawkins, as the Hawk was the reason he truly fell in love with drums.

      Evan Dahl

      Bass

This sentient meat bag came into existences on the bald prairies of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. It moved to Calgary at a young age and discovered a love for punk rock. This meat bag grew larger playing in punk and hardcore bands, later playing with rock and cover acts. It currently plays bass (the instrument, not the fish) and agrees that soup is good food!

      Carn

      Guitar

Hailing from Southern Ontario, Carn cut his teeth touring in many bands and playing solo acoustic shows. The Who made little Carn want to start a band, R.E.M showed him how to write a song and  Pearl Jam and the Tragically Hip showed him how to make it happen live with energy. A multi instrument player, who loves to bring new layers and sounds to the mix.
