
THE LOST PAWNS
The Lost Pawns are an exciting Calgary band playing all original rock music. Heavily inspired by 90's grunge, they have an authentic Canadian Rock sound with catchy riffs and inspiring lyrics that a are sure to get you singing along.
Founded in 2021, the band is the culmination of twenty years of songwriting and performing by Justin Matthews, the creative force behind the Pawns. Writing songs on an acoustic guitar and then electrifying them with the band.
A live band first and foremost they have been playing shows, music festival and private events in Calgary and Alberta consistently, building momentum and gaining fans along the way.

The Pawn's kicked off 2025 with a bang with the release of their first full length album "As We Are", and release party at the iconic Ironwood Stage & Grill. The album was recorded at OCL Studios and is a follow up to their debut EP "Artifacts". All songs are available on all major streaming platforms.

Often found with an acoustic guitar in hand and a new song in the works, Justin has been writing original music for over two decades. His passion for playing live and writing great rhythm and hook-based rock songs about everyday life has taken him to stages across Canada. He looks forward to playing the next one for you!
Josh Evans
Drums
Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Josh's passion for music came at an early age when his dad taught him how to hold a pair of drumsticks at the same time he learned to walk. His main influence come from the world of rock n roll, spanning all different types of sub-genres including but not limited to classic rock, 80's hair metal, 90's grunge, nu-metal, and modern day sounds. His biggest inspiration in life is the one and only Taylor Hawkins, as the Hawk was the reason he truly fell in love with drums.


Evan Dahl
Bass
This sentient meat bag came into existences on the bald prairies of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. It moved to Calgary at a young age and discovered a love for punk rock. This meat bag grew larger playing in punk and hardcore bands, later playing with rock and cover acts. It currently plays bass (the instrument, not the fish) and agrees that soup is good food!
